Russia’s ALROSA produces largest yellow diamond in 2018

MOSCOW, Oct 8 (PRIME) -- Almazy Anabara, a subsidiary of Russian diamond mining giant ALROSA, has produced a 28.59 carat diamond of the Fancy Intense Yellow color, the largest yellow diamond that the company has produced in 2018, ALROSA said in a statement on Monday.

“The extracted stone is our new unique discovery. Fancy colors are very rare in nature. This stone is also unique, because nature seemed to have prepared it for cutting and in advance gave it a pear-like shape,” the company said quoting Director Yevgeny Agureyev.

“United Selling Organization of ALROSA and the company’s cutting division Diamonds ALROSA have yet to study the diamond and decide whether to auction it as a rough or to cut it into polished diamond.”
